Asian American Mental Health Working Group
In the spring of 2008, the Asian American Mental Health Working Group was formed to help faculty and staff across campus better serve the diverse Asian American student body on campus. With representatives from over 25 campus departments - from cultural centers to police, academic areas to counseling centers, this working group continues to seek information and guidance in understanding this population, their mental health issues and needs, while also building cultural competency. Professionals specializing in Asian American mental health issues are brought to campus to share their expertise with both the working group and with students. Dr. Aruna Jha, University of Illinois at Chicago, visited UConn in March, 2008. Dr. Josephine Kim, Harvard Graduate School of Education, will present in October, 2009.
